2019 Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in our scholarship program.  It is the intent of the order to award  scholarships to Catholic youth from the Savannah area that attend either St. Vincent’s Academy or Benedictine Military School.

 

All submitted applications must be completed and delivered to the selection committee no later than Sept. 20, 2019.  All applications must be sent to wlynch@georgiasouthern.edu.  Upon receipt of your application you will receive an email acknowledging receipt.

 

The application consists of four items.  These items are:

  1. The first page of the application form must be filled out completely. (Please click here to download page one)

 

  1. The second page of the application provides you with the opportunity to tell us about yourself and what would make you a good candidate for this award. (Please click here to download page two)

 

  1. Please provide us with a 500 word essay.  The essay for 2019 is to listen to the song “Fields of Athenry”.  Interpret the lyrics of the song to determine its effects and how it explains an aspect of the history of Ireland and the Irish diaspora. The essay has a maximum of 500 words and submitted on separate pages. The essay should be double spaced with a 12 point font.  Please put the total number of words at the end of your essay. A bibliography is not required and not included in the word count.  Show references to the quotations used and any historical facts cited.

 

  1. All winners will be announced and invited to an awards presentation. All applications will be awarded based upon the criteria set in the application.  The Scholarship Committee of the AOH will review all of the applications.
